This Privacy Policy covers the Komoot Weather browser extension ("the extension") published by Velosophic Life ("we", "our", or "us"). It explains what data the extension handles, how it is used, and what it never does.

1. Data we handle

• Account email — if you sign in, you provide an email address so we can send you a one-time device-approval link. It is used only to authenticate you.
• Route geometry — to align the weather overlay, the extension reads the route geometry already displayed on the page and sends it to our backend for processing.
• Authentication tokens — sign-in tokens are stored in your browser's extension storage to keep you signed in. They are never exposed to the pages you visit.

2. How we use it

• To authenticate you securely via a magic-link email.
• To read the route on the planner page and align the weather raster to it.
• To fetch and display weather nowcasts and forecasts for the route you are planning.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the reliability and performance of the extension and its backend services.

3. What we do not do

• We do not collect browsing history, keystrokes, or content from pages other than the supported route planners.
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising.
• We do not perform automated or bulk access to any website; the extension only observes the page you have open.
• We do not integrate advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.

4. Data retention

Authentication tokens live in your browser and are removed when you sign out. Server-side data is retained only as needed to provide the weather service.

5. Data security

All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. We apply standard security practices to our backend infrastructure, including access controls and encrypted storage at rest.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's privacy

The extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to data portability. Since authentication tokens are stored in your browser, signing out removes them locally. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@velosophic.life.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of the page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
