Privacy Policy

Velosophic Life ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Activity Assistant iOS application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Email address — collected at sign-in for authentication via magic link. No password is created or stored.
- GPX route files — GPS track data you voluntarily upload to the App. This data is stored on our servers to enable route analysis.
- Location data — precise GPS coordinates collected during an active activity session. Location is used in the foreground and, with your explicit permission, in the background to support live activity tracking.
- Activity data — session start time, end time, duration, and associated route identifier. Used to build your activity history.
- Fitness level preference — stored in your user profile to personalise ETA estimates.
We do not collect any financial information, health data beyond fitness level preferences, contacts, photos, or any other category of personal data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you securely via magic link email.
- To analyse your GPX routes and produce weather forecasts and ETAs personalised to your fitness level.
- To track your live location during an active activity so that relevant weather alerts can be surfaced in real time.
- To store and display your activity history.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the reliability and performance of the App and its backend services.
We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it to build profiles for purposes unrelated to the App's core functionality.
3. Location Data
Location access is optional for browsing route previews, but required to start a live activity. The App requests "Always On" location permission so background tracking can continue if you leave the App during a ride.
Location data is transmitted to our backend only during an active session. Once a session ends, no further location data is sent. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Activity Assistant.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data (email, fitness level) and activity history for as long as your account is active.
GPX route files are retained until you delete them within the App or request account deletion.
To request deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at support@velosophic.life. We will complete deletion within 30 days.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:
- OpenStreetMap — map tile rendering. Your approximate map viewport may be sent to OpenStreetMap tile servers. See OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy.
- Velosophic Life backend API — all analysis and activity data is processed on Velosophic-operated servers.
We do not integrate advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel), or social login providers.
6. Data Security
All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Secure Enclave-backed Keychain. We apply standard security practices to our backend infrastructure, including access controls and encrypted storage at rest.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
- Data portability.

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of the page. If changes are material, we will notify users via the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
